Postnatal Recovery
Recovery after a vaginal birth deserves the same specialist attention as recovery from any significant physical event. Whether your birth was straightforward or involved interventions, your body has been through something profound - and it deserves proper support to recover well.
You might be experiencing:
Pelvic floor weakness, leaking or heaviness
Perineal pain or discomfort from tearing or episiotomy
Core weakness or instability
Lower back or pelvic girdle pain
Difficulty returning to exercise
Bladder or bowel urgency or changes
Pain during sex
A feeling of not quite being back in your body
These experiences are common after a vaginal birth. They are also treatable - with the right specialist support, recovery is possible at any stage, whether you are six weeks or several years postpartum.
What Does Postnatal Recovery Treatment Include?
Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation
Specialist assessment and treatment of pelvic floor function after vaginal birth - addressing weakness, tightness, prolapse symptoms, bladder or bowel dysfunction, or perineal pain from tearing or episiotomy. Please note internal pelvic floor assessment is not offered.
Core Rehabilitation
A progressive programme to rebuild deep core strength and stability after birth - starting where your body is, not where a generic timeline says you should be.
Return to Exercise
Evidence-based, individualised guidance for returning to exercise after a vaginal birth - whether that's walking, running, fitness classes or sport. Including structured return-to-running assessment and programming.
When Should I Seek Postnatal Treatment?
Ideally, a postnatal assessment at six to eight weeks after birth gives the best foundation for recovery. But there is no upper limit - women who gave birth months or years ago and are still experiencing symptoms can benefit significantly from specialist treatment.
If you are unsure whether treatment is right for you, get in touch and Katie will be happy to answer your questions before you commit to an appointment.

What our clients say….
“I was recommended a post natal check with Katie by my PT and I’m so glad I had it done! I had been signed off by my GP to exercise 6 weeks post c section but wanted an in depth check to see how I was healing. Katie is very knowledgable and the check was well worth the money! Katie was able to reduce some of my ab separation during the appointment using massage I was so pleased! I am now doing self massage on my scar, and am able to email Katie at any point with any questions I have. I will definitely be booking in again soon for another massage and to check on my healing progress. Highly Recommended.”
